About saunas with cold plunge
A cold plunge is a pool or tub of cold water, typically around 8–15°C, used to cool down between sauna rounds. It is the "cold" half of contrast therapy and much more approachable than an ice bath for beginners.
Breathe slowly, stay in for 30 seconds to a couple of minutes, then rest before going back into the heat. If you have a heart condition or blood pressure concerns, check with your doctor before cold immersion.
Plunge pools at bathhouses are usually chilled and filtered, and many are kept around 10–15°C year-round. If you are new to cold water, start with a cool shower and work up to the plunge. Combine it with slow nasal breathing, and focus on how you feel rather than on how long you can stay in.
SaunaFindr currently lists 51 venues under cold plunge, with starting prices from $27.
