A steam room (or wet sauna) runs at a lower temperature than a dry sauna, around 40–50°C, but at close to full humidity. The air feels thick and warm, and many people find it soothing for the skin and sinuses. Bathhouses commonly offer steam alongside a dry sauna so you can alternate.
Steam rooms are a good option if you find dry heat uncomfortable on your breathing or skin, and they make a pleasant warm-up before a hotter sauna. Sit or lie on a towel, keep sessions to about 10–15 minutes, and rinse off before and after. As with any heat, drink water and leave if you feel light-headed.
SaunaFindr currently lists 18 venues under steam room, with starting prices from $35.
