Saunas with Traditional Sauna

"Traditional sauna" covers any timber sauna heated by a stove and stones, whether electric or wood-fired, as opposed to infrared panels. The air temperature is high, usually 70–90°C, and humidity can be raised by adding water to the stones. Many venues use "traditional" and "Finnish" interchangeably.

Traditional saunas are the backbone of most Australian bathhouses and recovery studios. They are ideal for contrast therapy because the strong heat makes a cold plunge feel especially refreshing.

SaunaFindr currently lists 63 venues under traditional sauna, with starting prices from $20.
